i don't usually say this about movies but the prop design and outfits were amazing?? i would literally wear elphaba's entire wardobe.. and the movie was much better than i thought it would be! the leads were great especially ariana grande she was so funnnny. plus it goes without saying that they were singinggg. (and when she said pink goes good with green? that was so mscd-coded) my only real negatives would be that the third act was a bit rushed and the color grading.. ugh it's so washed out which is antithetical to wizard of oz to me. still a good movie though.

i've never seen the broadway show but i have read the book (when i was way too young honestlyyy it is definitely adult and dark) but anyway i really liked it. not as much as Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister which i remember enjoying more and is probably my fav book from the author BUT book!wicked really did stick with me and really fed into my love of fairytale deconstructions of sorts so i did look up to see if the broadway show changed anything and yeah it's like a lot happier lol like the book ending is a complete downer and honestly? i prefer broadway like i remember fiyero's murder in the book being so upsetting and i'm happy elphaba and him do get a happily ever after (in the next movie..i don't really like two-parters but whatever)
